BIOGRAPHY

Gretchen Peregrine received her B.M. in Piano Performance from CSULB, and her M.M. in Piano Performance from BYU. She has also studied at North Texas State and in Vienna, Austria. Ms. Peregrine joined Saddleback College as full-time Staff Accompanist in 1993, providing a full range of accompaniment to vocal, instrumental, and choral activities at the college, including guest recitals, master classes, faculty recitals, and coaching the applied music students in their vocal/instrumental programs. She also teaches Applied (private) and Class Piano, MUS 1, and MUS1 and MUS 54 ONLINE. Her book "Music Basics with Online Resources," is available for the classroom and for self-study. A coordinating Piano Supplement is also available. Other publications include a two piano/four hand arrangement of J.S. Bach Brandenburg Concerto No. 6, as well as many sacred choral & instrumental arrangements.

In Jan '02 she was also hired as Adjunct Faculty choral ensemble director and piano instructor at SOKA University.

Ms. Peregrine taught class piano at CSULB and BYU, and has worked extensively as a coach/accompanist to many vocalists and instrumentalists, musical theatre groups, and chamber groups. She maintains a rigorous performance schedule, and is enthusiastically interested in furthering musical experiences in a variety of settings, including classical, jazz, musical theatre, orchestral, and choral literature. Performances include: Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, and Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F with Saddleback Symphony, Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" (Aliso Viejo Symphony Premiere Concert) and recitals with Timothy Fain, violin (Recipient of the 2001 Avery Fisher Award) and William Fitzpatrick, violin (Juilliard Quartet, New York String Quartet, Aspen Music School,) a duo-piano recital performing Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" with Norm Weston, Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1 in G Major with South Orange County Chamber Orchestra and Shostakovich Piano Concerto No. 2 with Saddleback Symphony.
